Casa Mayor
We had booked in for three nights and stayed for 4 nights, left & returned for 2 more nights. We can only reaffirm all of the positive comments posted thus far. We came as casa customers and departed as friends. Daysi, Antonio & David are wonderful hosts, we highly recommend Casa Mayor to anyone who is looking for excellent lodgings while in the Cienfuegos area, the best casa we stayed in in our 3 week trip to Cuba. The food was superb, served in their tranquill courtyard garden setting. We spent hours dining casually & visiting with Daysi & her son David. Joyce even got a salsa lesson from David & we were treated to a dance performance by David & his daughter Wende.
Daysi speeks excellent English & can help you with any information or need you have.
We are sure you will truly enjoy your stay at Casa Mayor, enjoy!
Sincerely,
Ted & Joyce Rogers

Casa Mayor
Casa Mayor occupies a very special place in my travel world, because it found me when I was lost!
Daysi & Antonio helped me find my way & also gave me a tour of their wonderful casa particular/B&B.
Love at first sight! It was a clear case of finding a surprise gem while looking for something else. I vowed to return & did with a friend who was acquired the name of Juan Antonio the professor, masseur & casa papa adopted Juan & me, just like family. We learned of many things from natural health to stingless bees.
Daysi, notable chef & casa mama, ministered to our needs for breakfast & dinner delights, served up with individual care in the spacious, shady garden patio ... crisp chips of malanga included ... wow! Juan remarked several times that versailles wouldn't get much better than this.
I took many photos of my friends surrounded by the artifacts & good life of Casa Mayor. There are sitting rooms, drawing room, the grand fiesta uarter, library, 3rd floor mirador at sunrise & sunset and the accommodating bedrooms. Often in the morning we watched the young students parading by Casa Mayor heading to school. Bright uniforms, bright faces in which we saw professor Mari's ... the future of Cuba.

Casa Mayor
I normally prefer staying in the city centre. Having read about all the positive comments about Casa Major, my friend and I decided to stay there even though it is about 10 minutes' drive from city centre. And we're glad about our decision. I can agree with all the comments that other guests have left - very nice house and well maintained garden, delicious food and, more importantly, very friendly and welcoming hosts. I really enjoyed the conversations with Daysi and Antonio. They were also very helpful in providing us with travel information around Cuba! As a tea-lover, I was impressed by Daysi's extensive collection of tea (which excels many hotels and high-end restaurants)! A highly recommended place to stay!

Casa Mayor, run by Daysi and Antonio, was for us the best casa in Cuba. Warm and welcoming, great house with little garden and terrace on the roof, beautiful rooms and a splendid personal service. Daysi and her son David are superb cooks. No need to go out. This family takes a genuine interest in their guests. We had a lot of nice conversations and discussions on all topics. And we celebrated Christmaseve togheter in their pitoresque garden, with a very tasteful meal (ask for deer) and great company of the whole family. Don't miss out on this briliant place.

'Don't miss out on the opportunity to enjoy this lovely hideaway'

We have stayed at this stately Spanish villa on numerous occasions. Daysi & Antonio, who both speak English, are warm, friendly hosts as is their staff. Upon your request delicious meals (breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner, snack)are prepared on sight and are almost exclusively served in a serene, lush, walled garden. Each day you are asked what meals you would liked served for the day and varied entres are offered. Each suite has a private bath, television, air conditioner, fan, and even a refridgerator. The villa is tastefully decorated with local antiques and presents a most hospitable atmosphere. Rooms are reasonably priced; children are most welcome and laundry can even be done upon request. While located a short distance from the city centre it is easily accessable by walking or taking a taxi. Don't miss out on the opportunity to enjoy this lovely hideaway while viewing the scenic, historic sights of beautiful Cienfuegos.

Casa Mayor
My husband and I stayed at this Casa Mayor for 2 nights in July 2009. The casa is fantastic and run by a lovely, very accomodating and welcoming family.
The casa is beautiful both inside and out and is spotlessly clean. We stayed in a large double room with a fridge stocked with drinks, air con, fan, tv and a large private bathroom with a nice shower. The garden area and roof terrace are great and provide a really lovely place to relax and eat the fantastic food which the family cook. Secure car parking is also available at the casa.
The casa is situated on the edge of Cienfugeos which ensures that it is a peaceful spot. It is however easy to get into the town from the casa, the most fun way being by horse and carriage just as the locals do. It takes about 10-15 mins and costs just a few $CUC. We did this rather than use our car.
We would recommend eating dinner at Casa Mayor - the food was great (not to mention plentiful)and the garden area where you eat lovely (check out the frogs and geckos).
Phone ahead the day before to confirm your reservation - this should ensure that you get the room wth the huge bathroom as we did.
We would highly recommend this casa. |

'The house looks like a small museum'

Casa Mayor
I stayed in Casa Mayor this March. I have to say the house looks like a small museum and is spotless. Facilities are in very good condition. Antonio put a lot of effort to do the maintenance. I know the photos look pretty, but the house looks even much better than what is in the pictures.
The family is well educated and they speak good English. If you are willing to sit in the beautiful Spanish garden and chat with the owners for a while, you can know much more about the city and Cuba. Daisy cooks the best food in Cuba, at least I did not find a better meal in my 8-day trip in 4 Cuban Cities, including those fancy looking restaurants. She makes delicious local foods with good hygiene standard.
The tourist area Cienfuegos was good, but Casa Mayor gave me the best way to experience the real Cuban life. Highly recommended and I would definitely go visit again. |

At Casa Mayor we had time to sit down and relax in the lovely patio. The family makes you at home with fresh juice and sweet fruits. Put on some salsa music and dance a little when you want. The dinner they make is the best I had in Cuba. The beautiful house is like a precious museum and the rooms are even lovelier. Sharing all about the Cuban live makes it really a valuable stay with a very friendly family! |

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time staying in Cienfuegos with Daysi and Antonio. They made us feel so welcome and was easily the best part of trip to Cuba. The food they cooked for us was fabulous. I enjoyed talking politics with Antonio and he took me down the street to a neighbours home to show me animals that his neighbour had rescued. Our whole stay was extremely educational. We stayed two nights before heading to Trinidad and we wish that we had spent more time at Casa Mayor and less time in Trinidad. |

Casa Mayor
What can I say! Myself and my partner wanted Cuba to be a memorable experience and by staying at Casa Mayor helped do just that.
We wanted to experience Cuban life and staying with Daysi and Antonio you can do just that. They make you feel part of the family and include you if you want to, but you can still relax and be left alone in a beautiful home. A home you would be happy to have in the Western world we live in.
The food they cook up is also amazing and they cater for your needs. If you need a lift into town Antonio will drive you and pick you up.
They are also great tour guides and can recommend you things to do, but for me staying at Casa Mayor you really get the feel of Cuban life - staying in a Cuban community, but in a beautiful home with beautiful people (who speak English, which helps!)
If I ever visit Cuba again that's where I would be staying.

Casa Mayor
We spent last Christmas at Casa Mayor and - yes, it is the most beautiful casa we ever stayed in. Delightful hosts who made us feel at home in the beautiful house and garden. A special dinner was prepared for us on December 24th - exactly a year ago- the rooms are beautiful, the food excellent and both Antonio and his son were very helpful suggesting trips to the surrounding mountains - very beautiful. So glad we chose Cienfuegos over Trinidad! The house on the hill is an oasis of peace and tranquility. Wish we were there right now...almost 2 feet of snow await us outside. We spent time on the rooftop terrace watching the stars...sampling rum and smoking cigars (R). Feliz Navidad Antonio!! Our chats were so good! |

Casa Mayor
I stayed with Daysi and Antonio at Casa Mayor from 12-14 June 2006. It was the most wonderful casa where I felt at home from the moment I arrived and I was looked after in exceptional style from start to finish. My room was beautiful and had a very spacious en suite bathroom. The house was light and airy but the back patio style garden was absolutely divine. It was very green and lush, with mango, lime and many other trees giving the shade. Plants were abundant and with many in flower it was a picture of loveliness. All my meals were taken in this restful garden, the table always being laid to perfection. The food was plentiful and truly delicious. I was travelling alone and it was a treat for me that Daysi was able to spend so much time with me. She accompanied me on a walk into the centre soon after I had arrived and we chatted together as though we had been friends for ages. I enjoyed myself so much there that I extended my stay by one night. On my last day Daysi and I went on a trip together to the Botanical Gardens and then on to Castillo de Jagua. I have very fond memories of Casa Mayor and would highly recommend anyone to stay there in the company of such delightful hosts. The staff too must have a mention. Febe the cook and Mario the gardener, and also the pet green parrot Lolita, to whom I managed to teach some English! I will definitely return to this idyllic casa. |
