I recently returned from a 4 weeks in Cuba ..... My friend and I came from Santiago de Cuba to stay in Havana the last 2 nights before returning ...... We stay at a Casa Particular owned by "Cristina".... I regret to let you know that it is the worse place I have ever stayed.... The room offered was 30CUC per night (and sooo not worth it).....The room had 2 twin beds, No Air Condition, Only 1 fan, Minibar was empty, Bathroom was shared with the guest staying in the next room (Who happen to be Mexican and was paying 35CUC)...Breakfast was never offered to us, the guest next door had a fabulous buffet for breakfast, there was not dinner, Bathroom had no soap, shampoo, etc, and when I asked her, she said that all the tourist she rents bring their own (After staying in quite few houses on this trip, was the first time I heard that).......In other words I do not recommend this house to anyone. |

Casa Olivia y Luis
Address:
Calle Infanta #204 Aotea
e/ San Lazaro and Jovellar
Centro Havana, Cuba
I stayed at one problematic place while I was in Havana, run by Olivia and Luis at Calle Infanta #204 Aotea between San Lazaro and Jovellar. I'm afraid that after years of hosting foreigners in their small apartment they have become quite resentful of the intrusion of strangers into their home, and the vibes are palpable. Unlike most other casas in Havana, they are uninterested in offering any advice about places to see, how to get around, or any issues a traveler might be facing. They recently raised their rates, and they live on the eighth floor - a long climb at the end of the day. They speak virtually no English, and you will be sharing a bathroom with as many as seven other people. There are so many choices in Havana - this may be a place to avoid. |

I

found out a private hause called casaterraza.
Hospitality of cuban people is amazing and the hospitality
of the owners of that house is even more than GREAT!
Nora, the owner, is a retired chemistry engineer. She
speak very well english and could give me valious hints
about Havana life, places, history and so on.

Casa
Elio y Osvaldo
103
Aguila
e/Colon y Trocadero, apto 11/12
Centro Habana Cuba
I lived there for 6 months whilst i worked in the local
secondary school. The landlords Elio and Osvaldo are
amazing - they taught us all the cuban cookery we wanted
whilst we were there (though it did take the full 6
months to get the final secret ingredient for Elio's
great grandmother's frijoles!). Elio speaks good english
and is very happy to do spanish/english lesson swaps
if anyone's interested! The flat is really spotless
with one bedroom with a double bed, air conditioning,
clean bathroom with a proper shower, not a suicide shower,
a kitchen with fridge, freezer and 3 ring burner stove
and a sitting room. You can see the sea from the small
balcony. |
