Hotel Arenas Blancas
We are a family of 4, Two kids who are now 14 & 8 and we were our late 30's when we started to go to Cuba. We have only stayed at Arenas Blancas, and would not even consider staying anywhere else. If the resort was as bad as some of the reviews we for sure would not go back 4 times (we are going back for two weeks this time.
The hotel is NOT new, but the staff work VERY HARD at keeping it clean and neat. Sure the elevators sometime don't work, or they might be slow (Happens here in Canada too, We have had the occasional person who may be a little Grumpy, or having a bad day.... Another thing that happens here The location of this resort is AMAZING,,,Close to everything. The hotel is safe, and there is always something going on for both the adults and the kids.
We feel like we are going home and have made some VERY good friends. Hats off to ALL the staff at AB and the Cuban people in general They are GREAT!!! I swear when the Cuban Mosquito's bite you, You get Cuba in your blood, (you can\'t wait to get back there) I could go on and on about this place : ) People complain too much, about petty things in some of the reviews I have read.
How was your room?: Every time we have stayed the rooms have been GREAT, it seems like every time we go there is an improvement in them.
The maids are great and do an awesome job, We have NEVER had ANYTHING taken, We have left money, Ipods, cell phones laying around in our room, (I am not saying it couldn't happen, that someone would steal something) But again, that is another thing that can happen here in Canada too.
The beds are not the most comfortable but they are NOT the worst we have slept in.
How was the food the offer?: This would be the only downside to the resort that we can point out. The food is NOT BAD, but the Buffet is repetitive and maybe even a bit plain, (But you NEVER starve) there is always something to eat, The A la cart meals are the best So book them as soon as you get there!
The snack bar is ok, but runs out of the hot dogs and burgers often.
As I say you will not starve, and there is always a great selection of fresh fruit...
