Villa Cubana
I had a great time at Maria's casa. Here cooking is fantastic. Especially the lobster in tomato sauce. All the vegetables are straight from the family's garden. Everything is neatly and wonderfully presented. The room is plain but sparkling clean and cool. Maria is a very nice host and the perfect person to practice your Spanish! The street is a bit busy with noisy, gas emitting tractors and early farmers wagons. The latter only adding to the country feeling. I would absolutely recommend Maria's Villa Cubana.

Casa Villa Cubana
Maria and Mario are the best hosts. We felt a part of the family. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome. We recommend Casa Cubana to all who are thinking of staying in Vinales!

Casa style: Fantastic hosts, Comfertable, Colonial, Cozy, Hidden gem, Charming, Safe
How was your room?: The room is large, clean and comfortable with two double beds. We had our own key to the house. The veranda is a great place to relax at the end of the day and feel a part of the passing community.
How was the food the offer?: Put it this way...the first meal was lobster. Can it get any better??? Each day we had a variety of choices for dinner and each breakfast was exquisite with fruit, eggs, ham and coffee (with a variety of choices as well).
Other services they offer: Maria and Mario have good connections in the town. They organised a great day of horseback riding for us. They also know of people with cars to take you anywhere you want to go.
Other comments: Muchos gracias Maria y Mario!

Casa Villa Cubana
The best food we tasted in Cuba was in Mario & Maria's casa....I would highly recommend giving the restaurants in Vinales a miss and eating here you won't be disappointed! We actually did manage to communicate with a little basic spanish and Maria has a good grasp of basic English but if all else fails we found sign language a huge help and often ended up in fits of laughing at ourselves! The family are very accommodating and we enjoyed the use of the rocking chairs on the front porch in the evenings to relax after a long day exploring the beautiful sights around Vinales. Don't go to Cuba without visiting this place its amazing!

We stayed with Maria and her husband Mario for three nights in Vinales. Our room and bathroom (shared with one other room) were basic but nice. It was a pleasure to stay with Maria and Mario. They were very friendly and happy to help whenever they could and with a little Spanish we came a long way. They don’t speak any English but don’t let that put you off because usually, with a few gestures, Maria will be able to tell what you’re asking. The food was delightful which a big plus is because there’s only one state-run restaurant, San Tomas, in central Vinales. The food there is not the best; however their back terrace is very nice so worth a visit to get away from the donkey-carts and uber-free range chickens in Vinales. We also spent a lot of time in the rocking chairs on Maria’s porch and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Vinales!

Casa
Villa La Cubana was our first experience of a casa particular
in Cuba, and we weren't sure what to expect. We needn't
have worried. Mima & Mario are lovely hosts and we were
made to feel incredibly welcome. Mima seems to know everyone
in Vinales. In fact most of them turned up at the house
at some point and were just as friendly, so we felt a bit
like the extended family coming to stay, rather than paying
guests! Reports of Mima's cooking are not exaggerated. She
cooked the best Cuban food we had anywhere on the island
and we probably gained a few pounds during our stay:) Both
Mario and Mima were happy to sit and chat if we were feeling
sociable, and were very respectful of our privacy when we
weren't. I learnt a lot about normal life in Cuba from my
lengthy evening chats with Maria & Co. Neither Mario
nor Maria speak English, but they're so friendly, it shouldn't
be a problem. And if real communication difficulties arrise, Francisco
and Annie across the street speak such fantastic English
its hard to believe they're Cuban at all! We stayed with
Mima & Mario for three days and could easily have stayed
longer. We made good friends in Villa la Cubana and we look
forward to going back.
Muchisimas gracias, Mima y Mario...y hasta la proxima!!! |

We
had a really great time with Mario and Maria. Both are really
friendly and we stayed longer than planned. And really:
Maria’s cooking is unique in Cuba, it’s absolutely
wonderful! It was to bad we could not stay longer at Maria’s. |
