Casa Alberto y Melba
Having just returned from Havana I can highly recommend Casa Alberto y Melba. They are really lovely, lively and trusting people. They were also incredibly helpful to me when I was trying to sort out problems with my flight back London as well as full of information about the buses and other services. I suggest you get them to cook for you which is much nicer than eating out. The whole experience was pleasurable and you will find no better Casa in Havana.

How was your room?: Clean and comfortable.
How was the food the offer?: The food was excellent (much nicer than eating out).

Casa Alberto y Melba
We experienced wonderful hospitality when at Alberto & Melba\'s casa. They helped us get other accommodations in Havana, and also to make arrangements to go to Vinales and get a casa there, too. All their advice made our trip so much easier!!
And their wonderful casa is such a great place to stay, especially the room with the balcony and the great views of the city. They are gracious hosts, and made us feel very comfortable.
Casa style: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfertable, Cozy, Roomy, Safe
Amenities: Private bathroom, Laundry service, Balcony,
How was your room?: We stayed in both rooms at different times. Both were good and had a private bathroom. The room with the balcony was quite lovely, with an excellent view of the city.
How was the food the offer?: Breakfasts were large and tasty; we had one dinner there that was very good.

Casa Alberto Y Melba
This was my first Casa i stayed at for 3 nights. After a long tiring journey and late arrival I immediately felt at east with Alberto and Melba. Lovely hosts, Melba speaks english and both very helpful. Fabulous Panaromic views from the bright clean living room. Melba is a very good cook and has good strong coffee.
They are both very accommodating people and I would stay here again on my return to Habana.
The location is very central, Vedado to left, Vieja behind and the Malecon and the sea in front. A great location for first nights as it gives a good general idea of the city grid. No need for taxi's everywhere walkable

How was your room?: My room was spaciouis a double comfortable bed and good storage. Mirrored dressing table and private bathroom. Air conditioning and ceiling fan.
The best part was the wall to floor wood doors that opened to the private balcony with panoramic views across the city, Vedado to left, Vieja behind and the Malecon and sea in front. A great location for first nights as gives a good general idea of the city grid. No need for taxi's everywhere walkable
How was the food the offer?: The food was very good. Melba cooked a great breakfast good tortiala or eggs how you request. Good bread , fruits and juices/smoothies. A filtered water dispenser and good strong coffee. Melba cooked Lobster one evening and it was probably the best meal I had in Havana
Other services they offer: Melba was making many calls for another traveller to help book her transport. Laundry service.
Alberto was entertaining a sweet toddler Christian while his lovely parents were having breakfast in peace so child friendly.
They have many maps and information for travellers.
Other comments: I really felt at ease and enjoyed staying here. I wanted to re book on my return to Habana after travelling around Cuba but they were fully booked. However they made sure I had somewhere close and recommended there friends around the corner who turned out to be wonderful people. Marta there friend spoke brilliant english and at this time of my trip this was important. Sorry I missed you Melba I called round and you werent in and thanks for your hospitality and good reccomendation to find me somewhere else. XX

I can strongly recomend this casa! I stayd there for 3 days in January 2010. The appartment has a high standard and is kept clean at all times. They are very friendly and offer great service! The food is very good (breakfast 5CUC, dinner 8-10),maybe a bit expencive, but absolutelly worth the price in my opinion! They truly go out of their way to help you with whatever you need. It's only a short walk from Habana Vieja, and it's only about 100 meters from Casa del la Musica in one direction and Malecón in the other.

My staying on this house was one of the my best experiences on this trip. I wanted to know Cuba and its people and I got the best of both, this great family went way out of their way to please all of our needs. The house was in inmaculate conditions at any given time. The balcony, with a view to the ocean was a great place to savor the delicious food that Alberto and Melba prepared, the best crab I ever had (Huge!) and some very tasty fish were my favorite. Their cafecito (little cups of coffee) along with their suggestions on were and when to go and what to do, made every day a great day. The location of this house, with walking distances to lots of places, (malecon, capitolio, bus stop to the beach or plaza de revolucion, havana vieja, museums...) was the best decision taken on where to stay, we had enough time to go all over the place. From the hola at the first moment to the (hard) good bye, this couple were very gracious. They are also a very educated people, with great topics to talk. But the best I saw of them was to take care of the travelers who just showed up with no reservations made, 3-4 times we saw them making arragments, phone calls...to find a safe place, then Alberto would take them to a new place.

this is an absoultly lovly Casa. looked at a few others, this was the best by far. A very lovly/professional/ helpful family. you can have breakfast and dinner here (which i would recommend). 10AAAAA+++++

Casa Alberto y Melba
This is a lovely Casa. Alberto and Melba are very kind persons. After a long trip it is very nice to stay in a beautiful and clean Casa. You can also have breakfast and dinner here. While you have dinner at the roofterrace you have a great view of the city at the 8th floor. It was just like coming home, very friendly and helpful persons.
